Early Friday morning, a Hebron man was arrested near Edgar after a high-speed chase that passed through three counties, according to the Nebraska State Patrol.

Surrounded by officers, Travis Stierlen, 25, stopped his car about three miles south of Edgar and was arrested without incident, but only after a 40-minute chase that began near Geneva.

“The pursuit took participants through parts of Fillmore, Thayer and Nuckolls counties,” said Mike Meyer, an NSP spokesman.
Stierlen was arrested and taken to the Fillmore County Jail in Geneva.

The 25-year-old was booked for alleged violations including flight to avoid arrest, driving while intoxicated, driving under suspension and willful reckless driving.

On Saturday, August 29, the Thayer County Sheriff’s Office arrested a male subject following a pursuit that started in York County.

Around 2:15 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Nebraska State Patrol advising that a pursuit would soon be entering Thayer from Fillmore County on Highway 81.

Around 2:25 a.m., the pursuit entered the county with officers from York County Sheriff, Fillmore County Sheriff and the Nebraska State Patrol involved.

At the intersection of County Road V and Highway 81, a trooper performed a maneuver causing the suspect vehicle to spin.

A Thayer County Sheriff’s unit then prevented the suspect from continuing as other units surrounded the vehicle.

The Sheriff’s unit and two State Patrol vehicles were slightly damaged in the aftermath.

Brandon Amsden, 28, of Clay Center, Kan., was taken into custody and lodged at the Thayer County Jail.

He is being held for driving under the influence and flight to avoid arrest. Other charges will be filed in York and Fillmore counties.

A York County Sheriff’s Sergeant on scene advised the pursuit began after officers were called to a report of an assault and hit and run accident involving the suspect.
